Anthropic just gave Claude a new way to live inside a team. Tag it into a channel, and it doesn't just answer once and disappear. It can work autonomously for hours or days, schedule its own follow-up tasks, and message you back privately when it's done. System administrators provision it like a set of separate identities. A "sales Claude" and an "engineering Claude" don't share memory. They don't share access. They don't know about each other.

Most of the coverage I've seen treats this like a Slack feature. Read what Anthropic actually published, and it's something else entirely. This is a standing identity, not a tool. Something that persists in your workflow instead of waiting to be opened.

Right now, it's boxed into enterprise packaging: admin consoles, provisioning, IT-department language. That packaging is real, but it's not the point. The intent behind it isn't enterprise-shaped. It's identity-shaped. And identity-shaped things have a way of finding their way to everyone eventually.

I'd watch this one, whether or not you touch Slack.

Same week, a second story. This one's a warning dressed as good news.

Claude Fable 5 got restricted last month under a US export control order, after a reported jailbreak that got the model to produce working exploit code. Anthropic worked with the government, Amazon, Microsoft, and Google for two weeks. Fable 5 is back now, alongside a new proposed industry framework for actually scoring how severe a jailbreak is. Something that apparently didn't exist in any agreed-upon form before this.

Here's the headline everyone's reading: it's back.

Here's the actual story. The terms of its return were negotiated entirely by people who aren't you. Not maliciously. Genuinely, reasonably, for good cybersecurity reasons. But the point stands. You don't control what you rent. A capability can be switched off by a decision you had no seat at, and switched back on by a decision you had no seat at either.

That's not a knock on Anthropic. That's just what it means to build on someone else's foundation. Worth remembering the next time "it's back" feels like the end of the story instead of the middle of it.
